Silver Contact Buttons

Silver Contact Buttons

Silver contact buttons are electrical contact elements fixed to a conductive substrate by soldering. They typically have a flat, disc-shaped, or wafer-like structure, and are therefore widely known as Flat Silver Contacts, Disc Silver Contacts, Silver Welding Contacts, or Silver Contact Pads. As a key conductive component in low-voltage, medium-voltage, and some high-voltage switchgear systems, silver contacts undertake core functions such as current transmission, circuit connection and disconnection, arc withstand, and electrical life assurance. Their performance directly affects the stability and service life of relays, contactors, circuit breakers, thermostats, motor switches, and electrical systems in new energy vehicles.

Products Description

Silver Contact Buttons

Silver contact buttons are electrical contact products made of silver-based alloy materials. They are used in conjunction with copper, brass, or other conductive supports through brazing, fusion welding, or diffusion welding.

Unlike rivet contacts, welded contacts do not have a rivet structure; instead, they are installed as independent contacts on the conductor surface, thus offering greater design flexibility and wider application adaptability.

Based on product structure, they can be divided into:

Flat Silver Contact
Disc Silver Contact
Square Silver Contact
Special Shape Silver Contact
Silver Alloy Welding Contact
Bimetal Silver Contact

Product dimensions, thickness, material system, and welding methods can all be customized according to customer designs.

Design Advantages: Microscopic Surface Pressure Management and Topology Optimization of Welding Interface

Micro-arc Crown Surface Pressure Distribution Design An absolutely flat surface is prone to edge-first contact during closure, resulting in edge arc burnout. We perform nano- to micro-level micro-arc crown shaping on the surface of the Square Silver Contact to ensure that the maximum pressure falls precisely at the geometric center at the moment of contact closure, achieving the ideal contact mode of "center-first conduction, surface pressure diffuses outward," significantly suppressing bouncing arcs.
End Face Chamfering and Deburring Structure The tiny burrs generated by blanking are the source of corona discharge under high-voltage electric fields. We design precise chamfers or rounded transitions at the Electrical Terminals Silver Contact Points edges to eliminate the tip discharge effect and improve dielectric recovery strength.
Back Welding Surface Micro-texture Treatment For the welding surface, a special finishing process is used to form a micro-textured concave-convex structure. This not only stores flux or brazing filler metal, but also increases the local current density during resistance welding, promoting the rapid formation and atomic diffusion of the welding core, and achieving high-strength metallurgical anchoring.

Technical Features – A Holistic Engineering Consideration from Welding End to Contact End

Microstructure Design of the Welding Surface

To facilitate resistance welding, we can provide "cross-shaped embossing" or "dot-like protrusions" on the back of the Circular Silver Contact piece. These micro-protrusions generate concentrated current in the early stages of welding, promoting rapid weld nugget formation, reducing spatter, and improving weld consistency.

Flatness and Parallelism

Both sides of the Silver Contact Disc piece must be highly parallel; otherwise, uneven pressure during welding will lead to one-sided spatter or weld misalignment. We specify that the flatness of contact pieces with a diameter of less than 10mm should be ≤0.03mm, and for larger diameters, ≤0.05mm. Each batch of products is sampled and inspected using a laser flatness meter.

Edge Rounding

All sharp edges are micro-rounded (R0.1~0.2mm) to prevent sharp discharge during welding or use, while also protecting the fingers of assembly personnel from scratches.
