Metalized Ceramic Alumina Insulator

Metalized Ceramic Alumina Insulator

The Metalized Ceramic Alumina Insulator is a precision structural component based on high-purity alumina (Al₂O₃). It features a dense metal layer formed on its surface through a ceramic metallization process. Primarily used in high-voltage DC (HVDC) contactors for new energy applications, it provides electrical insulation between high-voltage and low-voltage control circuits, ensures a hermetic seal for the arc-extinguishing chamber, and offers mechanical support.

Products Description

Metalized Ceramic Alumina Insulator

A Metalized Ceramic Alumina Insulator is not merely a standard ceramic insulating component; rather, it is a composite structural part that achieves a hermetic ceramic-to-metal bond through active metalization or the sintering of Mo/Mn paste. In HVDC contactors, these insulators typically take the form of cylinders, flanges, or discs with central through-holes. One end is brazed to the metal moving or stationary contact terminals, while the other interfaces with the housing or the epoxy resin potting area, thereby fulfilling three critical functions: high-voltage insulation, hermetic sealing of the vacuum or resin-filled chamber, and mechanical positioning.

Product Advantages

A metallurgical bond is achieved between the ceramic substrate and the metallized layer, resulting in interface bond strength far superior to that of physical spraying or electroplating metallization processes for DC Relay Elements Metallized Ceramics.

The integral structure contains no organic components, ensuring freedom from outgassing, aging, or deformation during long-term exposure to high temperatures (up to 180°C).

Insulation performance remains stable across the full temperature range of -40°C to 180°C for Aluminum Oxide Metallized Ceramics, avoiding the sudden drops in insulation resistance often seen with plastic insulation components.

Customized, non-standard geometries can be designed to fit the internal space constraints of contactors, delivering superior insulation, voltage withstand, and sealing performance within a compact footprint for Mo-Mn Alumina Metallized Industrial Ceramic.

01/

Powder Preparation: High-purity alumina powder (Al₂O₃ content ≥95%) is mixed with additives (such as silicon oxide, strontium carbonate, and kaolin) in precise proportions and ball-milled to produce a uniform granulated powder.

02/

Forming: Depending on the geometric shape of the insulating Customized Alumina Ceramic, dry pressing, isostatic pressing, or injection molding is employed to shape the granulated powder into a ceramic green body. Isostatic pressing is suitable for complex 3D structures, ensuring uniform green body density and minimal internal stress.

03/

Sintering: The green body of DC Relay Elements Metallized Ceramics undergoes pre-sintering at approximately 1300°C to enhance strength, followed by densification sintering at high temperatures (1450–1550°C) to form a dense alumina ceramic matrix with a bulk density of 3.7–3.9 g/cm³.

04/

Metallization Layer Preparation: A molybdenum-manganese paste is applied to designated areas of the Aluminum Oxide Metallized Ceramics surface via screen printing (325–400 mesh). A stable metallization layer is formed through pre-firing at 850°C followed by high-temperature co-firing at 1450–1550°C in a hydrogen atmosphere.
